SITE Joins PCMA to Help Katrina Victims

The Society of Incentive & Travel Executives charged into action to help members displaced by Hurricane Katrina. “This is the time when the SITE network is most helpful,” said CEO Brenda Anderson, as she relayed messages from members to the rest of the association via a special resource page on the Web site (www.site-intl.org).

Anderson said SITE plans to donate “as much as we can” to the Professional Convention Management Association's Hospitality Industry Relief Fund (www.pcma.org); as of press time, no exact amount was available.

A committee of volunteers, led by SITE's Kristin Horstman, director of events and industry relations, planned to solicit items at the Motivation Show (held in September in Chicago), for an online silent auction, to be held on the PCMA Web site. As of press time, no date had been set for the start of the auction, but Anderson hoped to time the event “so that people can use this as a way to buy their holiday gifts.” Interested donors can reach Horstman at Kristin_Horstman@site-intl.org.

SITE also plans to donate half of the proceeds from it charity fund raiser at the upcoming International Conference, to be held November 3 to 6 in Toronto, to relief efforts. (Last year's event raised more than $10,000.) SITE is also offering complimentary registration and hotel accommodations for the Toronto conference to all members from the affected areas, as well as free 2006 membership for members from the affected areas.
